The Pine Township Board of Supervisors held their regular meeting at 7:00 PM at the Pine Township Municipal Building in Heilwood. Chris Cameron, Keith Muir and Ryan Shultz were present. Ryan Shultz called the meeting to order then led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Guest Speakers: Noah Clevenger from Allsafe Building Code Services. He recently started his business and provided the Supervisors packets that include information and fee schedules for what he has to offer. Kimberley Volk from The Insurance Place presented health coverage options available to the Township. The current healthcare package due for renewal July 1st is set to increase 17%.
The Board approved the Minutes of the May 2026 meeting. A motion to accept the minutes was called for by Mr. Muir, seconded by Mr. Cameron. Motion carried.
The Treasurer’s Reports and Timesheets were presented to the Board. A motion to accept the reports was called for by Mr. Muir, seconded by Mr. Cameron. Motion carried.
Bills were reviewed. Mr. Muir moved to pay the bills on the agenda totaling $2,885.69.
General Funds $2,885.69, State Funds $0. Mr. Cameron seconded; motion carried.
The Balances after expenditures are General Fund $426,654.56 and State Fund $554,052.65.
The Roadmaster’s Report was presented to the Board. A motion to accept the report was called for by Mr. Cameron, seconded by Mr. Muir. Motion carried.
The Police Report was reviewed. A motion to accept the report and was called for by Mr. Cameron, seconded by Mr. Muir. Motion carried. A Township report was presented to Cherry Tree Police officer in attendance. The monies coming in from fines have decreased significantly. The Supervisors have requested that police officers be present during periods of heavier traffic when violations are more likely to occur.
The Supervisors Discussed the Highmark health plan due to renew 07/01/26.
Unfinished Business consisted of an ICMESA update. Our current District 4 representative Jeff Gromley is resigning. Jim Sadler is interested in taking over the position.
The next order of unfinished business consisted of opening bids for the following:
Stone Bid Results for 600 ton of #8 limestone, delivered to different sites in Pine Township. 1 bid received: Homer R. Sleek & Sons Inc.$35.87. Motion to accept this bid from Homer R. Sleek & Sons Inc. at $35.87/ton by Mr. Cameron, seconded by Mr. Shultz. Motion carried.
Oil Bid Results for 30,000 gallons of E-5, delivered and applied. 3 bids received: Midland Asphalt Materials Inc. $2.69/gal, Russell Standard $2.97/gal, Suit-Kote Corporation $3.00/gal. Motion to accept low bid from Midland Asphalt Materials Inc. at $2.69/gal by Mr. Cameron, seconded by Mr. Shultz. Motion carried. Reconstruction of T-860 Springfield Road. Bid results for: 5,689 S.Y. Base repairs, in place. Dry Grind/roto-milling of existing roadway; 5,689 S.Y. Asphalt surface treatment, in place; 5,689 S.Y. Double asphalt seal coat, in place. 3 bids received. Midland Asphalt Materials Inc. $63,887.47; Quaker Sales Corporation $58,596.70; Russell Standard Corporation $59,962.06. Motion to accept the low bid from Quaker Sales Corporation for a total of $58,596.70 by Mr. Cameron, seconded by Mr. Shultz. Motion carried.
New Business consisted of a motion by Mr. Cameron to cancel the Highmark Performance Blue PPO $0 100/80 Platinum health plan and switch to the UPMC Advantage Platinum PPO $0- Premium Network plan effective 07/01/2026, seconded by Mr. Shultz. Motion carried.
Public Comments: Dean Upberg - Heilwood resident. He voiced concerns regarding his neighbor parking a coal truck next door and the noise associated with starting it in the early morning hours. He also inquired about what actions can be taken regarding homes in the neighborhood that are not being properly maintained.
Announcements: Spring Clean-Up June 5th, 6th and 7th from 7 AM – 7 PM
Mr. Cameron then moved to Adjourn the June meeting. Mr. Shultz seconded the motion.
