Public Comments: Resident and coalition member Cindy Fulton expressed her opposition to ICMESA. Fulton stated that the coalition's position is that there should be no additional government or taxes and that the coalition is seeking to abolish ICMESA. She also questioned how the mandatory $75 ICMESA fee would be used and stated that, to her knowledge, no ambulance service providers have signed on yet. Josh Philp also spoke on behalf of the coalition and presented his interpretation of section 1553(a) of the Second-Class Township Code regarding emergency services. The section provides that the township is responsible for ensuring that fire and emergency medical services are provided within the township by the means and to the extent determined by the township, including appropriate financial and administrative assistance for those services. He shared his perspective with the supervisors regarding alternatives they could have explored regarding the provision of emergency services rather than joining ICMESA. Residents Barb Costello and Wayne Detwiler expressed opposition of targeting property owners and placing liens on properties for failure to pay the mandatory ICMESA fee. Resident Pat Freidhof reported receiving a donation letter from Veterans Ambulance Service offering a $50 per-individual contribution. He said he intends to choose Veterans Ambulance Service for ambulance services rather than pay the ICMESA fee.
